Howdy, folks !
This is a long overdue post, I am so sorry for the delay. I do try to keep the calendar of events updated but this summer has gone so fast ! Intense jamming in La Roche where quite a few of our Geneva bluegrass community met up, Theresa and I participated in the bluegrass workshop and managed to put together an all-female bluegrass band for the workshop participants concert ! The Geneva Bluegrass crew was well represented and it was great to bump into each other throughout the week !
We are now ready to kick off the new season with not one but 2 jams extraordinaires early in September. Then our monthly meet up in La Galerie will resume from 17 September (regular jams) . Check the calendar for all the upcoming dates.
3rd September at Bateau Genève: This one should not be missed because it will follow a concert by The Long John Brothers on the Bateau Genève. They will stick around for the jam so it should be a really good one.
5th September at Buvette de St Jean Voies Là: this one should not be missed either because I am organizing this event and I think it is a great way to showcase Bluegrass to other people who don’t know about it. Last year we had lots of fun and even managed to recruit a few musicians 🙂
The evening will start with an open mic from 5 to 7pm for those who would like to present a tune they have worked on, it would be great ! Just sign up to info@bluegrassgeneva.ch
At 7pm, we’ll have Les Boulettes Points (who played last year already at this same event) and at 8pm a performance by Matt Mathews Trio ( Folk gypsy poétique) – Truly yours will be holding the bass in both bands.
Thursday 17 September : Jams are resuming at la Galerie, and will take place every 3rd Thursday of the Month, except in December, when it will be advanced to 10th December to celebrate International Human Rights Day…. and maybe to accommodate that other big December celebration later in the month. Ta !
